Protesting is a form of release for both parties. 


In olden days, the rural farmers will gather to protest against the outrageous conditions imposed by the almighty land owners. Clearly the land owners have all the mighty powers to crush any such demonstrations or protests, instead they allow it. 


Its a weird psychology, you allow those screamers to scream at you. There must be something in it, there must be some kind of a win-win situation therefore the all powerful land owners pretend to 'listen' or pretend to care, all the while they very cleverly know such protests only strengthen their iron hands even further. Plus, they know, those screaming shouting releases their build up frustrations, so allowing it is a good thing, afterwards the farmers must return back to work. Its like letting the steams off a bit. Nothing ever really changes, it just some steam got released, and the land owners also get a release from their own accumulated guilt of abusing the destitute farmers for years and years. Viola, protests and demonstrations are a win-win situations, and nothing ever get changed. 


Lets face it, the occupiers in Wall street have to return to their jobs soon, they have to pay the bills, remember those bills won't stop coming because you're protesting the devils at wall streets. you still got to pay your rent, hydro, food, gas, etc. The protesters must go home, go to their jobs sooner or later. 


Soon all will be back to normal. And the establishment might tighten the screws a little bit, not too much, so nothing will get out to hand during the next round of protest down the road. 


The key point is such demonstrations can never continue for ever and ever, it must come to an end, that is the catch. Life for wall street will continue after this irritant occupation. Don't mistake masturbation for the real sex. Likewise dont' mistake wall street occupation to be the real deal force of change, never.
